Baltic Bothy Residency 2021 – Holly Argent

We’re pleased to announce that artist Holly Argent will participate in this year’s BALTIC Bothy Residency on the Isle of Eigg.

Holly’s practice encompasses ideas of expanded collage, text and moving image, creating contexts and perspectives for exploring artistic legacies and conflicting histories. Holly works with archives and found materials to reconfigure and emphasise a subjective position to the work of other women. She also leads the Women Artists of the North East Library. Holly is interested in Eigg as an ‘archival site’ and will consider the idea of ‘feminist time’ in relation to the history and mythology of the island.

The BALTIC Bothy Residency provides an opportunity for an artist to work in a unique environment and have time and space to research, think, and develop their practice in the inspiring landscape of the Hebridean Islands.

Artists who have previously been awarded the residency include Katie Cuddon (2017)Julia Heslop (2018), and Grace Denton (2019).
