To date, Bothy Project’s network of bothies has included Inshriach Bothy, Cairngorms National Park (2011-2023), Pig Rock Bothy at The National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh (2014-2020) and Sweeney’s Bothy on the Isle of Eigg (2014-ongoing).

Our bothies are off-grid and in rural locations. Off-grid means our bothies are separate from public utilities such as mains electricity, water, and gas. Being off-grid necessitates residents to think about how they use their power supply and which renewable source their power comes from; they use water supplied from springs, and they spend time without internet and/or phone signals.
