Bothy Project is excited to be working in collaboration with The Tin Church in Portnalong, Isle of Skye, to realise six residencies this Autumn.
The Tin Church residents are Norah Barnes, Andrew Black, Martina Helena Kaufmann, Dana MacPherson, Hatty Nestor and Emily Roderick.
In September and October 2026, the invited residents, whose practices span visual art, literature, performance and ecological research, will each undertake a week-long residency. These residencies are encompassed within three of Bothy Project’s residency strands: Creative Practitioner, Self-Directed and Neighbourhood.
There will be an online public event with The Tin Church residents in late-2026. This event will be part of Bothy Project’s ‘in discussion’ series which brings together cohorts of residents to share and discuss their work and research. More details to follow soon.
The Tin Church is a small renovated mission church. It is set in a quiet glen near Portnalong in the west of Skye, close to the heart of the Cuillin mountains. The building was renovated in 2020 by Skye-based architect Nick Thomson and artist Caroline Dear, retaining the original external corrugated iron whilst transforming the interior.
The residencies are part of Bothy Project’s growing connections with Skye, as we work towards a new Bothy Project residency space in Glendale, Skye.
