Visual Arts Scotland – Open Call 2022 has closed

Bothy Project is delighted to announce its second Partnership Residency with Visual Arts Scotland. A VAS member can apply to spend a week in the inspirational setting of Sweeney’s Bothy on the Isle of Eigg.

The residency will take place between 17 – 23 September 2022 and includes accommodation for seven nights at Sweeney’s Bothy and reasonable travel between home and Eigg. The successful applicant will also be paid a £500 artist fee by VAS.

There is no expectation to create a body of work – rather, this residency offers artists space to be able to reflect on their work and engage with the environment and culture of the island.  However, there are some outcomes that VAS would ask of the successful applicant, including:

  • Undertaking a week-long Instagram Takeover, dates to be discussed with VAS.
  • Completion of a blog for the VAS website describing their experience.
  • Participation in VAS’ exhibition programme by showing work and/or evaluating their experience via a talk or discussion facilitated by VAS.

Applicants can work within any discipline or media and at any career stage, but must be a VAS member at both time of application and time of residency.
