Bothy Project awarded Adapted Cultural and Creative Buildings funding

We’re delighted to share that Bothy Project is one of eight organisations to be awarded Adapted Cultural and Creative Buildings funding.

In recent years the Isle of Eigg has been experiencing frequent long periods of wet weather, which has impacted the integrity of the access path to Sweeney’s Bothy. This funding will enable us to install new drainage that works with, not against, the landscape, to protect the access path from increasingly wet weather, frost and surface water damage, and support safe year-round access to Sweeney’s Bothy for our residents and staff.

The Adapted Cultural and Creative Buildings Fund is a new National Lottery-funded pilot co-designed and managed by Creative Scotland and the Scottish Futures Trust. The fund is designed to help cultural and creative organisations across Scotland adapt the buildings they own to the impacts of climate change. The fund focuses on adaptations that will increase the resilience of properties facing growing risks from heavier rainfall, stronger winds, rising temperatures and changing weather patterns.

Other organisations supported by the fund are Community Circus Paisley, Renfrewshire; Dance Base, Edinburgh; The Highland Council with Eden Court, Inverness; Scottish Historic Buildings Trust with Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh; WHALE Arts, Edinburgh; Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre, Dundee; and Forgan Arts Centre, Newport-on-Tay. We are grateful to Creative Scotland and the Scottish Futures Trust for their support.
