Workshop Weekend – Inshriach House

In February 2016 The Bothy Project hosted the first in a series of public events that explore the materials and techniques involved in the production of Bothy Stores commissioned products. The weekend was an opportunity to meet Bakery 47 and Charlotte Barker who are working on the first range of products as part of The Pioneers, our inaugural project for Bothy Stores.
Bakery 47 developed their first bread at Inshriach Bothy in 2013, and established their bakery in their home kitchen, delivering door-to-door in South Glasgow. Now with their own premises, they strive to maintain an intimate approach to what they do, bartering with local producer for ingredients and building personal relationships with their customers.

Charlotte Barker is a sculptor working in clay. She has recently completed her MA at the Royal College of Art, and is based in Edinburgh. Her practice explores form, balance and the material qualities of clay. She enjoys pushing the physical boundaries of the material testing its inherent properties and gymnastic potential.

Baking Workshop: Folding & Lamination
Sam and Anna Luntley lead a workshop about baking in the bothy, their love of sourdough, and how this connects with the geography of place. Working with a theme of ‘folding’ they explored important aspects and methods of baking, particularly the development and shaping of sourdough bread and croissant dough.
